Fun with paper.

Last month the challenge for our Lilac Inkers group, was to create a card using these 3 different patterned papers.

Card Pattern Sketch #111

Here is another great sketch from Card Patterns. Put on your creative thinking cap and play along. This is my version of the sketch.

The stamps are from Paper Trey Ink. I used Marvy markers colored directly onto the stamp, misted it with water, then stamped onto the paper. I used a Stardust embossing powder to highlight the leaves and tree trunk.

I found another great sketch. This one is sponsored by "the sweetest thing". This is the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

On this card I used "Whiff of Joy" stamps designed by Norma Fickle.

The image was colored with colored pencils then blended with Gamsol. The pearls were colored with a copic marker, flowers and ribbon from JoAnn's and the spacer is from Stamp and Create.

Repeat impressions is having another Designers Choice Challenge. The challenge is to create a child's birthday or happy day card with either wet or dry embossing or both. Considering that I have many grandchildren...I thought I would play along. Get out your papers and join me.

My 3 yr old grandson likes trains so this is the perfect card for him. The train is a Sizzix die that was paper pieced together. I used Stardust embossing powder for the coal car, the light beam and for shadows in the billowing smoke from the engine. The strip at the bottom was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.

Mojo Monday #186

Here is a fun sketch from Mojo Monday. Get out some paper and play along.

I used a Tina Wenke stamp for this card. It was colored with Copic markers, ribbon from JoAnn's, embossing folder is Cuttlebug and the daisy is Martha Stewart.

Card Patterns Sketch 110

I thought I would play along with this weeks Sketch from Card Patterns.

I can't wait for spring and WARM weather so I thought I would get a head start by using bright spring colors on my card. This is the SHAKER card I created based on this sketch.

I stamped this Tina Wenke Stamp with Memento Black ink. It was colored with Copic markers. The papers are from K and Co, ribbon from Hobby Lobby and the pearls from Queen and Co.

Designer's Choice Challenge

The design team at Repeat Impressions is hosting a "Scenic " Card challenge.

I thought it would be fun to play along. I used 1712-P, By the Stream for this card. It was stamped on glossy cardstock then the color was added with dye inks. The inks were applied with make-up wedges.

Side step

I have been recharging my batteries after the very busy holidays. I hosted 5 dinners/parties in a 12 day period. I am glad that I don't have to plan any more meals...I was running out of menu ideas since many of the same people attended all 5 events.

This is an Anniversary card that I just finished. I looked through all of my stamps and couldn't find an appropriate stamp for an Anniversary. I guess I'll have to buy some stamps for this occasion. I searched my stash of stickers and found these champagne glasses. I designed the card around the stickers. Easy-peasy!

The card is a step card with a little variation....the steps are only on one side. The card fits into a standard A2 envelope. The wedding colors were blue and purple as you can see from the bouquet that was used by one of the bridesmaids. The butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch, the ovals are Nestabilities, and embossing folders are Cuttlebug.

This card went together quickly and I will definitely be making more side step cards. If you would like the measurements to make this card, leave a comment. I could use a little love!

12th day of Christmas

Today was gingerbread house day with three more grandchildren. The youngest licked his fingers a few times after all that's what taste testing is all about.

Applying colored sugar takes a steady hand and a gentle shaking motion.

Concentration is very important.

Sometimes too much sugar causes funny faces.

Those aren't puffy cheeks! A teddy graham jumped into his mouth. Mmmm good.

The finished houses were works of art.

The youngest wanted to play with the toys not pose for another photo! I can't blame them...decorating houses is hard work.

This house is very artistic and colorful. I love the wreath over the door. There is even a door knob and the decorative colored balls at the peak of the house were placed there one at a time. Wow now that's attention to details.

11th day of Christmas

I just got home from the cookie exchange. Chocolate Chip, Peppermint Bark, Spritz, Cracker Candy, Pizzelles, Peanut Butter Balls, Lemon Wreaths, Rugelach, Truffles and Raspberry Jelly Bars were a few of the many cookie that we exchanged. I haven't even seen this many different cookies in a bakery! It was a delight for the sweet tooth in each of us.



Here is the card for today.

One Nestability die and Vintage Photo dye ink were used on this card. A green ribbon, a red Christmas tree brad and three gold pearls added a little bling. This card is fairly simple but there is beauty in simplicity. See you tomorrow!
