CR84FN25 Color Challenge.

I found this color challenge a few days ago. This color challenge was definitely not in my comfort zone nor were they my "go to" colors. I signed up for their e-mail figuring I would wait for colors that I was comfortable with. This morning I decided to give this color combination a try, I was kicking and dragging my heels all the way! Picking out papers usually takes up more of my time than I would like to admit. Giving this challenge a try was going to eliminate some of the paper picking since the colors were chosen for me. Here is the challenge.

I have always been fascinated with "Asian" stamps, papers and cards so I made a "gate-fold" card keep an "Asian" theme in the back of my mind. The color "red" is often used in Asian art so I figured this was a safe bet. Here is my interpretation using this color scheme. The red flowers that were stamped don't look as red in the photo as they do in person, so pretend they do!
The stamp, punches papers and Mizuhiki "Paper" cord are from Hanko Designs.

Turquoise Stickles were used in the center of the stamped flowers.

All the flowers were placed on the aqua horizontal strip.

A thin magnetic was used to keep the floral strip in place when the card is closed.

I am pleased with my first attempt with these colors and will keep them in mind for future use.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #114

Still cold and rainy outside. Spring has been delayed again this week.

Since I am desperately awaiting the arrival of "spring", I decided to put some spring flowers on my card.

The verse is Inky Antics , the flower stamps are Hero Arts and Rubber Stampede. The butterfly die and stamp are from Papertrey Ink.

Card Pattern Sketch 112

This is another great sketch from Card Patterns. Check out the wonderful cards that have been submitted. This is a fantastic way to get new ideas.

I tried to "think outside the box" when I created this card. The stamp is an old Hero Arts stamp that I had forgotten about. I cut the bottom leaves off of the stem and mounted them on the edge of the die cut with foam tape. The embossing folder is from Sizzix, verbiage from Papertrey Ink's Delightful Dahlia stamp set. I applied white ink with a piece of cut 'n dry to the raised designs. I love the clear stamps because you can curve them to fit any shape.

I loved the way this card turned out so I made a few more of the same card. I think I will change the verse to Happy Mother's Day.

Mojo Monday #188

The challenge from Mojo Monday was to mix things up a bit and focus on non-traditional cards. The sketch is for either for a round or square card.

I figured I would mix things up by making a round card since I have made several square cards before. This is my first round card and I really enjoyed trying something different.

Mojo Monday #187

Here is another fun sketch from Mojo Monday. This was a fun way to warm up those brain cells that are cold from the snow we had this past week.

It was challenging to play with this sketch....I guess that's why they call it a "challenge".



The papers are from K and Co. The Delightful Dahlia stamp and die are from Papertrey Ink. The flourish pearls are from Want2Scrap. I colored the pearls, the flower and leaves with copic markers.

SSSC 113 and TSG103 Monochromatic Magic

This is the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #113.





I really enjoyed playing with this sketch. The scene was stamped with Momento ink then colored with copic markers. The Hot Air Balloons are from Papertrey Ink set Up, Up and Away. The die for the balloons is also from Papertrey Ink. The balloons were also colored with copic markers.

The next card is a Monochromatic Challenge sponsored by There She Goes. This was definitely a "challenge" because I like lots of different colors so to stick with different shades of one color put my brain into overdrive. I cheated a little by adding some "purple". After I completed the card I thought it would be fun to try this again with different colors. Try it you'll like it!

Fun with paper.

Card Pattern Sketch #111

Here is another great sketch from Card Patterns. Put on your creative thinking cap and play along. This is my version of the sketch.

The stamps are from Paper Trey Ink. I used Marvy markers colored directly onto the stamp, misted it with water, then stamped onto the paper. I used a Stardust embossing powder to highlight the leaves and tree trunk.

I found another great sketch. This one is sponsored by "the sweetest thing". This is the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

On this card I used "Whiff of Joy" stamps designed by Norma Fickle.

The image was colored with colored pencils then blended with Gamsol. The pearls were colored with a copic marker, flowers and ribbon from JoAnn's and the spacer is from Stamp and Create.

DCC 413

Repeat impressions is having another Designers Choice Challenge. The challenge is to create a child's birthday or happy day card with either wet or dry embossing or both. Considering that I have many grandchildren...I thought I would play along. Get out your papers and join me.

My 3 yr old grandson likes trains so this is the perfect card for him. The train is a Sizzix die that was paper pieced together. I used Stardust embossing powder for the coal car, the light beam and for shadows in the billowing smoke from the engine. The strip at the bottom was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.
