GD @ Playing in Paradise

Great news......I am the Guest Designer at Playing in Paradise this week. There are some wonderful samples from this creative DT and I am honored to have my card displayed with theirs. Wait till you see the fun inspirational photo that will get those creative juices flowing.

I am often ask where I get my inspiration from...well this card was inspired by my two youngest grandsons who are ages 4 and 5 1/2. They really are BFF's and the older one always watches out for his younger brother.

This cute image is from Mo Manning. It was colored with Copic markers, alphabet letters are from a Sizzix die cut set, ribbon from Michaels and brads from Paper Wishes. This card is rather CAS for me, but since it was a masculine card, less is sometimes more!

This is the photo that was used to create my card. Doesn't this photo remind you of our fun-filled, carefree childhood days? If you have fond memories of those times, grab some papers and play along, you have until Thursday (noon) to submit your card.

Spring Color Challenge

Check out the great Spring color challenge at Playing in Paradise.  This card was made for my DH as he recovers from surgery. Great color palette even for 'men's' cards.

The stamp is from My Hearts Stamps for You.  The hand drawn plaid on the quilt and the image were colored Copic markers.

This is the great inspirational photo that was used to create this card. Each week Playing in Paradise offers a different challenge. Last week was a sketch challenge and this week is as color challenge. They even have inspirational photo challenges. Check them out, there's something for everyone!

Wouldn't that butterfly be a great addition to my Butterfly Garden?

Men in Paradise

Still working on my men's basket of cards!!!  There is a great sketch at Playing in Paradise this week and so I decided to use this sketch to make another men's card.

The stamps are from the "It's a Guy Thing" set from Raisin Boat.  The kraft paper was stamped with Adirondack Espresso ink using different sentiments from the set. The chair was paper pieced with paper from the Paper Studio. The rug is an oval die cut that has been snipped with scissors around the edge to make fringe. HA stamp was used to give a faux wallpaper effect on the top wall section. Dye inks on pieces of Cut 'N Dry were used for the floor, lower wall and to highlight the wood grain on the cream panel behind the image. The wood grain is from a PTI embossing plate. (FYI..if you LIGHTLY mist the piece of paper with water before using the embossing plate, you get a much deeper impression...wink) A Copic marker was used to add a little distressing to the well worn, comfy chair.

This is the sketch that was used to create this card.
